Spring Evening, Motherwell

I was speaking in Motherwell this evening at a dinner to commemorate the work and achievements of the late Dr Robert McIntyre who was the Leader of the SNP in the 1950s but whose claim to fame here is that he was returned as the MP for Motherwell in a by election in April 1945, becoming the first ever elected SNP Parliamentarian.

I arrived at the venue slightly late (the First Minister was already speaking) but even so I paused for a moment on the way in to take this - the late sun on a lovely spring evening illuminating not only the hedge around the hotel but also the tower beyond.
