Floods

The rain was relentless today. It must have been raining all night and it continued to rain until late afternoon. Not just rain but RAIN with attitude and spite accompanied by its allies strong winds and cold.

I went for a swim this morning. I could have walked up and down our road for 40 minutes for the same effect, except the pool water was warmer.

It was a day for indoors, which I spent on a multifarious range of tasks, clearing away a backlog of work for the prison service that had been accumulating over the past week or so.

When the rain relented we ventured out for a walk mainly to see the impact of all this water. There were floods everywhere, the main photo shows the power of water as it ripped and jumbled up the sleepers that make up this path by Majors Lake. A stream bed that had been dry all winter was now a torrent and had overspilled the bridge earlier

In the extras, clockwise from top left is Lilk Meadow, where building new houses will start soon (they've been told time and time again), Majors Lake, (the same view as a few days ago,) the River Len and finally the playing field by Mallards Lake.
