Family Reunion

We began a slower paced day with breakfast with Becky at the Tamper Cafe before she headed to work. Tony tried the Egg plate, basically two fried eggs (have to get used to all the terminology surrounding eggs once more!) with fried potato mash whilst Becky had avocado with hers and I went for the yummy bowl of granola with banana, pecans and maple syrup - that set me up for the day. Back at the house we put a load of washing in ready for the next part of our adventure and relaxed with a cuppa before it was time to walk to the T for our ride in to Boston.

We had planned to lunch at a previously enjoyed cafe in Harvard but it had changed ownership so we sought out the cafe in the Harvard Bookstore and then got back on the T to Boston Common and the start of the Freedom Trail. Boy it was hot today, in the 30s, so Tony told me off for striding out and we paced ourselves with drinks stops. There is lots of history to absorb on the trail as it wends its way through the city and up to its conclusion on Bunker Hill. Don’t let on you are British on this trail!

We were flagging as we retraced our steps to the Waterfront where we were to meet Becky and Rob and my brother Rog and sister in law Anne, for dinner. Rog and Anne have lived in Boston for over 25 years. The waitress in the diner kindly took this photo of us all.

After a convivial meal with much catching up, we walked through the city in search of dessert in the Italian quarter, before driving home.
