A good day for the beach

I was in London again today - it has been a busy week - to visit the excellent Picasso 1932 exhibition at the Tate Modern which was preceded by a talk on the exhibition by an art historian. The talk was so interesting, I never realised just how sexual Picasso's paintings were and particularly during this very productive period of 1932 when he painted so many images of his latest lover Marie-Therese Walter.

It was a glorious day - I started off in Parliament Square to photograph the newest statue in London of the suffragist Millicent Fawcett, as it is needed for an arts program at school (see extra). Then I walked over the bridge to the Tate Modern where I took a photo of the latest skyscraper in London - One Blackfriars which has already earned itself the nickname The Vase (another extra). In my main image you can see all the other tall buildings in London, all with nicknames too - the Walkie-Talkie, the Cheesegrater, the Gherkin, and the Shard. You can also see the beach, where just out of this scene people were building sand sculptures.

Last night it was lovely to meet Luke's girlfriend. They have had a relaxing day at home today but are going to a show in London tonight. We have a long weekend ahead of us, and the weather looks fantastic!
