Tour de Yorkshire

Home from Northumberland with a quick stop off at Northumberlandia, Lady of the North. The centrepiece of the park is a stunning human landform sculpture of a reclining lady. Made of 1.5 million tonnes of rock, clay and soil, she is 100 feet high and a quarter of a mile long. It reclaims land used for open cast mining.

Sutton Bank had already been closed for the Tour de Yorkshire so we had a detour over the moors. This gave enough time for us to wander down to the roundabout to watch the cyclists come through.

Pleased to have caught Mark Cavendish as he camepast. Unfortunately he was dropped on the tough Sutton Bank climb and never managed to catch the leaders to contend the sprint in Scarborough.

Overwhelmed with the response to my Puffins. Thanks for putting them on page one of popular.
