Packed up after breakfast ready for the 11:30 ferry from St Margaret's Hope to Gills Bay. All fine on the crossing and we were third off the ferry which minor thing always feels like a result. Drove down the A9 in truly awful weather wet, thick mist, temperature of 7 or 8. How people in Caithness must have been fed up with talk of a heatwave ...

By the time we got to Inverness things had cheered up a lot and the drive homewards was really sunny, warm and surprisingly not too busy. Still quite a bit of snow on the tops and in the gullies. House in good order, cat has been well looked after (thanks Lyn) and the washing is on. It will be an early night.

What a great holiday we've had. We've seen and done such a lot, met two lovely blippers, collected about a hundredweight of sea glass and bits of pottery off various beaches (project not quite decided for that), Otter met many kind biscuit ladies and various doggy pals. We've renewed acquaintance with people and places from previous visits and gone to some new places and met some great new-to-us people as well. And taken lots and lots (and lots) of photos. To be sorted in due course.

While we've been away the garden has exploded with colour. Here is the blossom on the crab apple. Good to be back.
