More weeding

We woke at 0500 again today.  I was in the garden by about 8.30, trying to get some weeding done before it got too hot.

Today, I cleared the bed on the oak terrace of unwanted dandelions and grass.  We planted this up last autumn with lots of allium bulbs of various sizes, and added some mini clematis and various other ground cover plants.  Then in April, just before leaving for New Zealand, we added some perennials which had been bought as plug plants and grown on in the polytunnel.  It's all looking quite good.

The pittosporum hedge you can see in the background on this photo has suffered badly from snow damage this winter - but it has some new growth, so hopefully it will recover over the next few months.  In future, we perhaps need to be more proactive in clearing the snow.

Back to work this afternoon - I hope I can stay awake to the end of the shift (9pm)!
