Bird Day!

All these images were taken within less than an hour from each other. The first is the Cedar Waxwing. One of my favorite birds. In this image you can see the red patches on the edge of the wings that gives the bird its name.

The second image is a nest of White-breasted Nuthatch chicks. Mom was close by, but seeming not disturbed by our proximity to her young. These chicks are getting close to fledging.

The third was taken in the local eco-center near our office. We had a call that a baby bird was found on the ground. The bird was brought to the eco-center, and it obviously decided to bond with our friend Keith. We all got quite a laugh out of this site as we came to get the bird and release it close to its nest. It is a European Starling chick. This one had fledged and just needs a little more practice before it can be out on its own.

Bird Day indeed.

Enjoy!
