Shadows and Figures

.....at the Barnes Foundation.   We are in Philly for a couple of days with my husband's cousins from Florida.  Over the years, Philadelphia is a city that we have visited numerous times as it is only 2.5 hours from home.  It has fabulous restaurants, wonderful art museums and plenty of history.

In 2012, the Barnes Foundation moved it's artwork from a mansion in the suburbs to a brand new building in center city, Philly.  This is my fifth trip to see this amazing art collection that includes 181 paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, 69 by Paul Cézanne, 59 by Henri Matisse, 46 by Pablo Picasso, 21 by Chaim Soutine, 18 by Henri Rousseau, 16 by Amedeo Modigliani, 11 by Edgar Degas, 7 by Vincent van Gogh, 6 by Georges Seurat and I counted at least seven William Glackens paintings.  FYI William Glackens is the Great Uncle of blipper, Creativelenna.  If you are interested in more information about this amazing art collection, please see this LINK.

This shot was taken from the interior atrium, looking up at the second level of museum offices.  For the most part, it was just frosted glass windows, but for a brief time, these folks seemed to be having a little meeting and I thought it made an interesting impressionistic photo.

And finally, I came across this smiling face in the most unexpected place.  Please see my extra.
