A book from our own correspondent

Last night I went to the Wildlife Trust meeting in Ellesmere. The talk was by Vicky Turrell who writes the nature column for The Oswestry Advertizer, our local newspaper. I've known Vicky for many years when I was teaching and she was a head teacher and we had a good catch up before she began speaking.

It was a really interesting talk about her childhood on a farm in Yorkshire and about the smallholding that she has now. She told us about her newspaper column and read passages from her books.

I bought this little book which contains some of her nature columns from the past year. I haven't had chance to begin it yet but know that it will be an enjoyable read.
