The last day

Today was Luke's last day at home as he flies back to Berlin tomorrow to complete his German internship as part of his year abroad. It has been a busy day - his last physio appointment, which went well and he managed a fantastic knee bend. He will have a few sessions in Berlin, and then continue his physiotherapy when he gets back to the UK at the end of June.

We then went grocery shopping and treated ourselves to some sushi for lunch - a local Waitrose branch has a sushi counter where they have trained sushi chefs making fresh sushi to order and also have some ready made to select from their display - it is excellent sushi and so fresh!

However, before we ate lunch we decided to go on a long walk with Murdoch as it was such a beautiful day. I had already done a short run this morning so by the time we finished the walk I had clocked up about 17000 steps (and now at supper time its about 21000 steps!) The walk was lovely, from our house into the Oxshott woods and on to the Esher woods where Murdoch had a swim in Black Pond which is huge and very clean - its a favourite swimming place around here for dogs. We are lucky in that we have such extensive walks right from our house. This image is of Luke and Murdoch on the way to the pond.

After our lunch we pottered about at home until it was time for Luke's appointment with the knee surgeon. Some of these surgeons really need to pass personality tests as part of their training, don't you think? He is lovely but a bit odd in his manner - all is fine with Luke and he has another follow up in 2 months time. To be honest, the physio has done an excellent job of checking Luke's progress and rehabilitation so the 5 minute meeting with the surgeon seemed almost unnecessary.

It's Luke's last night at home tonight - I will miss him when he goes!
