Coming home

I only watched the Eurovision Song contest for a very short while last night, and was confused as to why Australia and Israel were taking part as I thought the competitors had to be from Europe - but then what do I know and there must be some reason for that, but I am not really bothered to find out about it as I don't find it that interesting.

It was a lovely morning and so Gavin and I had a long walk in the woods with Murdoch. Thomas had to go to school to sing in the chapel choir for the confirmation service this morning and it was such a pleasure that he could now drive himself there and back again. Luke had gone out with some friends in London last night and then slept over at his friend's flat, and what good timing it was but as we finished our walk in the woods and came home via the station, the train pulled in and Luke stepped off the train. We all walked home together and went via that new cafe in the village for a coffee. Sadly I doubt the cafe will last unless they improve several things very quickly - the coffee was excellent but the service was poor with untrained staff, there were no cakes apart from a few very stale croissants, it's just not good enough when there are many other places to choose from in the next village who offer so much more.

Its been another lazy Sunday, we had another excellent BBQ for lunch, and have sat about reading the papers. I was sad to hear about the death of Tessa Jowell, she seemed one of the few good politicians.

Only one day left with Luke at home! It will be a much quieter week once he goes, and it is made worse by Gavin also leaving tomorrow, he will be in the USA for a week on business.
