Culture in the city

Another good day at Leeds - this is a particularly motivated group of students who are a pleasure to teach. After the morning lectures we spent the afternoon in Middleton Woods, just north of Ilkley, where the shade was very welcome as it was even hotter than yesterday. Rather oddly, though yesterday's grassland seemed to be ahead of last year, the bluebells in the woodland were a bit behind and still in full flower.

Once again I had some time to kill before my train home, so went into Leeds Art Gallery. It was good to explore the interior of a building that I've walked past many times in the last few years. There were some thought provoking pieces, though some just had me puzzled. I only had forty minutes, so didn't manage to get round everything - the sculpture collections will have to wait for tomorrow.
