Stuff and Nonsense

Osprey

Today we were at RSPB Leighton Moss. The weather was fantastic and due to a certain royal wedding, it was also very quiet :)
We had a wonderful day - a marsh harrier was hunting over the reed bed, the nuthatches were almost eating out of your hand they were so tame, we saw the red deer, loads of grebes, little and great crested and the highlight, an osprey. It was white YW, who was born on Bassenthwaite Lake in 2008 and is now part of the pair at Foulshaw Moss, whose eggs are about to hatch any day now. He had three attempts at fishing, being mobbed by the black headed gulls, but was unsuccessful each time. I hope he gets better or his partner and chicks are going to starve!!!
We also went to the Eric Morecambe Hide to see the avocets. There were at least a dozen pairs, and already a couple of chicks have recently hatched.

This evening we went to Rogan & co at Cartmel, which is one of Michelin starred chef Simon Rogan's restaurants. It was delicious, if a tad expensive and we had a great time.

Hope you all enjoyed the wedding - I'll catch up with it later in the week unless I am sick of it by then!
