Windermere - backblip

Sunday 20th

Bowness on Windermere was very busy today but after finding a precious parking place and devouring ice cream we took a peaceful and informative boat ride round the islands and learnt lots about the history of the Mere/Lake. On the way back to base we visited the Arts and Craft House at Blackwell; a lovely house, warm scones with butter and jam in the tea room, and in the gardens croquet on the lawn, racemes of Wisteria hanging in all its glory on the walls and with stunning views over Windermere.

We dismantled the caravan awning this evening so we don't have so much to do tomorrow before the next leg of our travels up to Sanquhar; job done and we relaxed with a glass of wine, then David, son of our caravan site owner, brought an orphan lamb round to see us. The little lamb was more interested in her bottle than us but I did feel her beautiful wooly fleece. Her breed is 'Masham' and I told David the wool is very good for needlefelting and particularly for making small Hares' whiskers!!
