An Avid Lensman

Medieval Marvel!

Salisbury's original (pre-dating the Cathedral)  St Thomas' Church isn't often lit from inside after about 5.30 p.m. In winter that's OK to get at dusk but not when it's 9.30 in the evening.

The new glass panel doors in the main porch allow much better viewing and the large latticed windows always look great with the golden warmth inside set against the deepening blue dark dusk sky.

This evening, a cool but pleasant stroll for me and many others, had the church after a concert and so folk were clearing up.

I actually knelt on the pavement outside to get this low angle and the superior low-light performance of my secondhand Tokina ATX-Pro DX 11-16mm f2.8 MkII allowed almost no distortion and sharpness at its widest and stopped down by just 2/3 stop.
