Sedum

Sedums, like Alchemillas, hold raindrops very prettily on their water-repellent surfaces. These ones area a lovely dusty purple colour that contrasts well with the greens around them. Usually we cut them back a little in June, otherwise the tall stems can't hold the weight of the flowerheads in late summer and autumn, and the plants fall open in a rather ungainly fashion. When they do flower, they're favoured by the bees almost to the exclusion of anything else.
