When the Livin' is Easy and the Cat is FLAT

It's the start of the long Memorial Day weekend in the U.S., and it's a special anniversary for me. The Friday before Memorial Day was the day that I closed on my house, 14 years ago. So happy House-iversary! Memorial Day is also the unofficial start of summer in these parts, and all of the state park beaches open for swimming, hooray!

The weather has turned quite a bit warmer, and we've had a few days in the mid-80s, which is just too hot for a cool-weather-loving gal like me. My husband and I had talked about doing something more exciting, but in the end, we just ran some errands in town and then came home and installed the air conditioner in the living room window. Ah, blessed relief!

The rhododendrons are in full and glorious bloom this week, and I've been taking many photos. I went outdoors and shot some pictures of them all: pink, purple, nearly white. I've put a favorite photo in the extras: the first lovely flower on a new purple rhododendron bloom.

And when I came back inside, this was the sight that greeted me. Dexter was sitting at the top of the stairs, eagerly awaiting my return. So say hello to the welcoming committee. Ah, summertime, when the livin' is easy and the cat is FLAT!

The song: Uriah Heep, Easy Livin'.
