Eggs and Bacon

The day didn't go quite as planned as we were going to use up a voucher for Athelhampton House this morning but we had forgotten the Dorchester Marathon was taking place . Having driven into Piddlehinton we were turned back and then realised that Athelhampton was one of the key places on the run so we went down to Portland for a breath of sea air - it was really busy round the cafe but once you have walked away from the honeypot, it was quiet.

Always liked spotting this flower as a child when my Mum used to teach me all the country names of plants. Its proper name is Birdsfoot Trefoil which is equally as descriptive.

We then returned home to lunch with Paul's family and a peaceful afternoon under the trees in their garden where we all sat and tried not very successfully to solve The Times Crossword from yesterday!
