Fruit pizza!

Monday
Today was Memorial Day, marking the beginning of summer and the weekend when most outdoor pools open for the summer. We celebrated by having our friends John and Ellen over for a cookout early evening. We won’t be seeing much of them over the summer months, as we leave on Friday for three weeks in California (for a wedding) and Colorado (visiting friends). About a week after we get back, they leave for Israel for two weeks. Then early August ( we haven’t booked our flights yet) we are off to England and Europe - planning to be gone at least six weeks! So we decided we really must get together before we leave for California. We’d decided on a cookout - putting our new patio furniture to good use. Roger spent the morning and early afternoon in the garden again, while I was grocery shopping, tidying and cleaning ( even though we were eating outside, they still had to come through the house!) and making a couscous salad and a broccoli salad and the fruit pizza for dessert, shown in my Blip. I had intended taking several shots during the evening - Roger at the grill, us around the table etc., and doing a collage, but we got to the dessert, and it wasn’t until John took his phone out to take a picture, that I suddenly realized I hadn’t taken any all evening! After dinner, we played Scattergories. I think the men were the winners this evening - John in particular - I think Ellen and I were suffering from “brain freeze” or something, but it was fun, and that’s the main thing!
