*Sigh*

One of those days.

Some news headlines first thing which... well, words fail me. Polite ones anyway.

The work day was dominated by a couple of constituents who popped in to consult us. First, a convicted sex offender who is having trouble over access arrangements to his young daughter. His offences were for sex with under age girls. He is entitled to be treated by us exactly the same way as anyone else.

With him, my function was just to monitor his discussions with my colleague who deals with his case. There's no reason to expect him to be any kind of threat to her, but she finds it all very repulsive and might need me to step in and take over if it gets too much for her.

Then our friend with gender confusion issues returned. His new bra drew some admiring looks from my female colleagues, although his sequined g-string was less impressive - especially as his trousers kept slipping to reveal half of his hairy backside.

He thinks he's on the road to hormone treatment and then surgery for what ails him, but as a psychiatric (or is it psychological) assessment is the first step, we think a big disappointment is coming up.

Some days we work pretty hard for our salaries.

It was nice to come home to a peaceful garden and warm sunshine and a big tub of chocolate ice cream.
