The long-trailed microscope is finally hers...

Dinner prep was punctuated with "come look at this retina" "CarbBoy, can I show you a rat testicle?" etc. Joyful to see her so enthused, of course, but I'm hoping its stay on the kitchen table is temporary.

As you might see in the background, I still do balloons - even for terribly mature 17 year olds. There was cake for breakfast, and a trip to the patisserie to choose pudding. The birthday continues when Mr B joins us tomorrow.

Otherwise, some rain, with a re-engineering of the drip channeling solution, and much upholstering. Part of the sofa is starting to look like a sofa, but I may have hit a snag which will mean calling the bread knife into action again.
