Battery Rust

It is no secret I love the rust created by Zihuatanejo's climate, except that is when the rust turns out to be on batteries in various electronic devices. We have lost more than one flashlight, remote, and digital thermometer in our time here. Even my 580 ExII flash had to be repaired because of a leaking battery like the one pictured above. We have certainly gotten smarter and now remove the batteries from the many electronic gadgets in the apartments we take care of at season's end, but unfortunately we missed this one.
