Palacio Royal - Madrid - D33

This was, at one time, the residence of the royal family in Madrid. Impressive. They have since moved outside the city — maybe because 2800 rooms weren’t enough? ;)

We had a guided tour of the city by bus, with a few stops on the way which included this and the bullring — a very nice neo-Moorish style). It’s surrounded by restaurants that offer all kinds of bull-derived meals. I’ve tasted some of them and they are great!

Then we had a guided visit of some of the highlights of the Prado. That was a treat.  This was followed by a late lunch in a place with wonderful atmosphere (yes, the food was nice too). After what has now become my traditional siesta, I set off to explore the Chueca neighborhood, got drenched by a passing thunderstorm, bought two more pairs of shoes (someone stop me, please!) and got drenched a second time when I went out looking for a quick bite.  I think that’s enough for one day, so I’ve ensconced myself in my hotel room for the night :)

My blip is the lone cell phone pic I took so it’ll have to do til I return to my laptop tmrw.
