The Peak District

John and Ann went on an early morning walk up a nearby hill to Solomon's Temple, a folly built on the top of a hill overlooking Buxton.  Jennie and I, being more sensible, took a walk across the park to Upper Shops.

We met up for morning coffee and toast at the Pavilions cafe.  From there we drove over to Bakewell. It was market day and very busy but we found a nice restaurant for lunch and then had a good walk around picking up olives and cheeses in the market to go with our tea.

After leaving Bakewell John gave us a mini tour of the surrounding area of the Peaks stopping at viewpoints and a visit to 'The Cathedral of the Peak',  the church of St John the Baptist in Tideswell.

The main picture is a memorial stone overlooking Monsal Trail dated 28th January 1908.  The extra is inside the church at Tideswell.
