A most fantastic day

Today was the big day for Si and Lindz. We were up in good time for a cooked breakfast (thanks, Catherine!) and best man and photographer Liam walked over the road to the groom's apartment to keep Si's nerves steady. We weren't sure watching 'Rear Window' was the best activity to calm him (Si texted to say how he was passing the time) so Liam didn't want him to be on his own for too long.

Meanwhile, Amy, Catherine, Fred and I hit the shops for some last-minute bits and pieces, and we enjoyed lunch on the Mound. It wasn't long until we had to spruce ourselves up in our gladrags. Best man and orator Matthew came around and we all walked down the Royal Mile to The Caves. It's an amazing venue, although I didn't envy Liam's job as photographer with all the dark, purple lighting. I didn't really try with my camera - just pointed, clicked and hoped for the best.

The wedding ceremony was beautiful. I had a tear in my eye during Si's speech and we had a real laugh (intended) at Lindz's speech. She's a natural with the microphone - who knew!? There were lots of personal touches throughout the day, from vinyl record table settings to the DJ playlists. There was a great deal of dancing. Simon, Mike, Liam and Russell all spun the decks and each song was tremendous. Liam suffered an empty dancefloor at one point, but that mystery was solved when he discovered that bacon and veggie sausage sandwiches were being distributed in the upstairs room.

I was immensely happy when I discovered the cheese wedding cake was available to eat with copious amounts of tea and oatcakes near the chill-out cave. I remained there until Disco 2000 where all the folk of a particular age stormed the dancefloor and we sang all the words at the top of our voices. DJ Mike astutely held us there by following this with a stonking Girls and Boys. Oh, the happiness on the dancefloor. Altogether now: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5 fingers!"

It was such a fantastic wedding and everyone had fun. I met so many lovely people - a real reflection on how wonderful Si Lindz are.
