The Postal Museum

Today was something different, I visited the Postal Museum in London which only opened last July and I got to ride on the postal train in the underground tunnels. Post used to be moved around London this way until 2003 when the decline in volume of post no longer warranted keeping this system going. The small section of the tunnel has been reopened as part of the museum for visitors to ride in the very small train to see what it was like. The train is tiny, and some people were concerned about feeling claustrophobic but it was fine. It was very interesting learning about the history of the British postal system, one which in my humble opinion is the most efficient in the world. (some extras too)

After that visit my friend and I had a lovely salad lunch at Tossed - what a cool cafe, you walk in and order your meal on an ipad and then it is ready in minutes at the counter, all freshly made.

Tonight it is the annual dinner of the arts society, where we say goodbye to retiring committee members and welcome the new members. I have been a committee member for three years now and have one more year to go.

If any landscape photographers are interested, a group of us blippers are attending a Lakeland Photographic Holiday workshop from 5-9 November and there are still some places available. It is always great fun and no matter what the weather, you cannot fail to come home from a visit to the Lake District without some beautiful images.
