Pecan Tree

Earlier this week, during one of the rain storms, straight line winds brought down a limb on the big pecan tree that years ago had been struck by lightning.

Mercy was with us as the limb didn’t hit the home place or the pack house. It did flatten Trey’s dog pen but as there were no dogs in there, we weren’t concerned about that.

The tree limb was as large or larger than most trees these days and so too large for us to handle. We got somebody to come take care of cleaning it all up yesterday.

Today, when we went to Kinston for the monthly meal with Kent’s siblings and spouses, we met and paid the man and stopped by to see the tree.

We will have to have him back to trim up the small pecan tree and trim a couple of the other limbs on the big pecan tree so there will be no issues in coming storms.

Top left you have PeeWee standing by the downed limb to give a little perspective of its size. Top right shows it flattening the dog pen but just missing doing damage to the pack house. Bottom left is Kent standing in front of the cleaned up spot where the limb was so you can get an idea of it’s circumference. I had to add the bottom right which is one of the sunset shots I took as we drove home.

It’s Friday again folks so Happy Weekend Everyone
