Storm

Both feeling a little under the weather today. MrM seems to have started with a streaming cold, and I've felt rather queasy. (Inclined to think it was something to do with our breakfast in my case, though I didn't eat much of it. We had hot-smoked trout, which looked and smelt fine, but must have been marinaded in honey. It tasted like sweet kippers, the very thought of which is enough to make me feel sick!)

A productive day all the same, and the wood for the 'Music room' has had two coats of yellow/green paint, and is now ready to go on to the wall. Hoping that MrM will be back in time to do it this evening as planned - he's gone down to the woods near Rothbury yet again, this time to put up his own trail camera, in the hope of capturing evidence of red squirrels there...

The sky turned black at about 4.00pm as an impressive storm passed overhead - thunder, lightning and torrential rain for about 20 minutes. The drains couldn't cope with the volume of water, and the roads turned in to rivers. Our enclosed courtyard flooded briefly to the top of the doorstep, but the rain lessened and the water had started to drain away by the time I fetched the camera, thank goodness.
