Pomegranate

It's that time of year again. Pomegranates in the shops always make me think of Christmas, even though I don't ever remember eating them at Christmas. It was a bit of a ritual for us when we were little to get half a pomegranate as a treat (maybe twice a year) and pick all the seeds out with a pin. This inevitably resulted in sore fingers (a sticky slippery pin is tricky to wield) and usually stained fingers as well as the pith, somehow, turns you a funny colour. Worth it though. When I saw them in the shop Katherine said she'd never had one. I can't imagine how I've failed to pass that joy onto her. One to rectify. Next I'll teach her how to crochet*.

*Maybe not....
