Betty

The most rotund Shetland pony in Edinburgh.

It's been a long day in Edinburgh. First up was the summer fair at the Camphill Community where our friend A lives. Such a glorious setting right up in the Pentlands. Great crafts, plants and food for sale. A chance to catch up with A's mum, one of my oldest friends. Despite the weather, anything but summer, there was a good crowd there. Then a walk in the hills during which we got soaked. Not fun. A very late lunch in Currie then a walk to Balerno along the Water of Leith walkway. This is where we were introduced to Betty. She was rescued from the donkey sanctuary last year and is a glutton. Also, as they all tend to be, very stubborn. But a sweetie anyway. On airport duty to pick Lyn up from her sojourn in Paris. There was a strike at CdeG airport but in the end her flight was less than an hour late. Home now. The sun is shining and there's no sign of the rain we had earlier. But nice though the weather is I'm off to bed soon. The news of the fire at the Glasgow School of Art woke me up at 04:30 and try as I might I couldn't go back to sleep. Such a terrible waste of a unique building, with restoration from the fire four years ago only just being completed.
