Sunshine on Leith

Couldn’t resist the title - it’s completely accurate. We took our granddaughters out for dinner in a pub in Leith this evening
- sounds truly awful grandparenting, but it was a gastro-pub with a fashionably distressed decor and excellent food - and were surprised by how lovely the evening had become. Instead of the dreich threatening-to-rain grey of a couple of hours ago we were met by a golden low sun making dramatic stabs between the buildings and creating stage-set scenes like this.

The chap on the bike has just pushed off, as it were, and is wobbling slightly. Behind him, a man is sitting on the ground on a sleeping bag, and the third man is joining him. Otherwise the street is quiet, though there is jollity behind pub windows. It’s about half an hour before sunset.
