Common Enchantments

This happened today

I was going to go over to paint more at son #2 condo today but then the hubby decided that he was going to rip out the carpeting in our bedroom to get it ready for installing laminate hardwood flooring.  We have had the flooring for about 2 months and something always got in the way of his beginning this project.   So instead of painting, I was the staple removal person and clean up person.  I would never have left him to do this without my presence..just saying!

Our bedroom has had three different carpets..the one we removed today as been there 18 years!   Yes, it was time and I really wanted to do away with it because the bare floor will be easier to keep clean.   So we started the removal after breakfast and finished right before lunchtime.    What a mess!   Moving furniture was so much fun!!

Then Jerry had to cut the new flooring for some angles by the door and closet..what a mess.  The saw is in the upstairs bathroom so that he does not have to go outside to cut boards.  Too hot and too many trips up and down the steps.    I put an old sheet on the floor to hopefully capture the sawdust that falls..it is working okay but the saw dust is still everywhere.  What a mess!    I knew this would be a major clean up job once it got underway.    Thank goodness we have a bathroom with shower downstairs.

But I will have nice new floors.  And all the log walls have been vacuumed that were behind the big dressers and chests.  Another mess!  It had been years since I had gotten behind the dressers..and the log walls are curved so dust was settled really good on those curves!

Tonight we will be sleeping on the sleeper sofa in the living room as every available space in the spare bedrooms contains things from our bedroom.   That will be fun!   The dog is already confused as she does not have her normal sleeping spot in the bedroom!

I hope we can finish up this flooring tomorrow as it is moving along  smoothly (???)  now that the first boards are lined up.  Unfortunately, there are always boards that need cutting on each row so it takes time to measure and cut.

Does anyone else take on big projects like this or do you hire someone to do it!?
