Kerrera

Left Luing this morning on the 09:30 ferry. Very keen to return to this lovely island. Did a mini detour to Ellenabeich then headed back towards Oban and the ferry for Kerrera. The one and only other time I visited Kerrera was 1st December 2001 or 2002. I don't remember the year but I do remember the day as it was remarkably mild and we had a picnic despite Christmas trees starting to appear.

Today we accidentally walked much further than we intended. Rather than taking the coast path directly to the Tea Garden we strode off round the south end of the island. What should have been a 40 minute walk was more like 2.5 hours. But there were compensations such as getting a good view of Lismore which we won't otherwise have had. And although it was undulating it was a nice walk. This sign greets walkers who take the more direct route to tea, coffee, soup and cake. It's only downhill in the sense of topography. The tea garden is lovely and our lunch, though later than planned, was really good. Saw some feral goats on the way back to the ferry.

The otter did come back last night, about 10:00 pm same as the previous two nights. I managed to take a photograph which isn't great but I've added as an extra for yesterday anyway.

Really enjoyed our few days away. The caravan was a revelation. It was in a pretty special spot mind you. And we've had great weather. Good to be home for a few nights now.
