Going swimmingly

Part of the hectic with the hay yesterday was that today was forecast to see rain and storms arrive and a massive temperature fall. Shortly after this photo was taken at 13:00 the storm arrived and while it was quite a downpour it only lasted 15 minutes or so and added to the humidity at around 30°C.

It has been incredibly hot for quite some while so the rain was welcome though probably not for Andreas who had mentioned an acquaintance in Ottobeuren had asked him to press his hay at 16:00 today. I wonder if that worked out.

In the evening, Mrs MY came by for a long hack with Angie and Luna. She has just got back from a short caravan holiday in Italy. Hubby had said only a week allowed but when they were there, MrsMY refused to go home as planned and insisted they (+two young children) stay for another two days. She got her way: One of the nice things about being on the "Continent" is that one doesn't have all the hassle of booking ferries and keeping to deadlines.

MrsMY also asked if she (hubby) could have another bucket of green plants from the pond for their very large Koi pond. I am amazed at the stuff which we first got last year, also for free from someone with Kois. After years of battling with pea-green soup water, the plant turned the water clear within days and in summer grows faster than weeds, I am more than happy to give away as much as possible and give the goldfish some room for their aquatic sports.

There is an interesting comparison of the pond taken on 8th Aprilwhere the pond is totally free of any plants. The oxygenating plants retreat fully in the winter to the bottom of the pool and only grow again as it warms up.

After the ride, we sat around outdoors until well after dark and I promised to bring by a bucket tomorrow. One could begin to feel the chill now slowly arriving from the north.

Eventually got indoors and cooked a meal, sitting down eventually at 23:15 to enjoy it. I think about the third night in a row at this time.
