Loch Rannoch Forest

We had planned a walk in the Loch Rannoch Forest on the other side of the loch. As we had been in the car for the last two days we decided to walk around the loch to the start of the walk.

The weather was glorious and we enjoyed the walk. We then had a lovely picnic lunch and then the walk.

The walk climbed up beside the Carrie burn and we could hear the water as we climbed higher.

The forest is mixed woodland and where they had felled the pine trees they had left the deciduous trees.

Having reached the top the walk back down was mainly on the wide road they use for removing the felled trees. That was not as pleasant as the climb up.

The blip is the loch that we found near the top.

Have got back to the start we had a flapjack each that we’d bought in Booth’s. They were scrummy. We’d previously eaten some Kendal Mint cake to help with the climb.

By now we were rather tired but we had to walk back. We now know that we’ve walked 10miles, 2.5 miles there, 5 miles on the walk and 2.5 miles back. We are both pooped
