Small Skipper

It's the final day of National Insect Week and I was quite pleased with the pics I got. Early this morning I watched an ichneumon wasp struggle free from a spider's web. The yellow and black insects are usually very skittish but this one stayed still and groomed itself after the incident. I captured it cleaning its antennae using a hook on its foreleg.

I photographed two clutches of recently hatched shield bug eggs and a southern hawker dragonfly. Ollie and I found this small skipper butterfly in our disused car park.
