Nicky and her Nikon

Another scorcher!

Thank you for the hearts that have continued to come in on my 2000th blip, you are a lovely lot and my image is still riding high on the popular page which does not happen very often to me.

Last night I settled down to watch the first episode of The Crown on Netflix and was horrified to realise that I could barely watch it as the wifi in the TV room is for some reason quite poor, and so it was buffering all the time and resulting in a very shaky image - we have excellent wifi throughout the house with boosters everywhere but just my luck that it works so weakly where the main TV is. Our TV system is quite complicated so I could not just plug in another booster, so we phoned the alarm man who came yesterday (as he had fitted some boosters into the complicated system a while back) and he luckily could come round this morning to try and sort it. I should have phoned the TV man who set up the system but he is such a grumpy git and never returns calls that I decided to rather see if the alarm man could sort it. He managed to take a cable from the TV directly into the internet source rather than using the wifi, and it works! So tonight I will start again and watch episode one as last night I could barely see what was happening.

It was another scorching hot day - Murdoch is in need of a haircut and in this heat I felt so sorry for him that I decided to get it done sooner rather than later. He also seems to be picking up more ticks than usual on his walks, possibly as we have had such a hot and dry summer so far. He has a booking with his usual groomer for 3 weeks time but she was too busy to do it any earlier, so today I phoned someone who is in our village and therefore very local - her website said she has won all sorts of grooming awards and specialises in hand stripping, which is what Murdoch has done to him, and so I decided to give her a try. I am so glad she did, she did a brilliant job and his coat is nice and short now, hopefully cooler for him and also easier to spot any ticks. And so much more convenient than the other groomer.

The painters are still busy throughout the house, it is so warm upstairs and I feel sorry for them painting in this heat. They seem to be doing a very good job so far, and tomorrow I have to leave a key for them as I will be in London all day with Thomas at a university open day.

While Murdoch was at the groomer I went to Black Pond - on such a hot day I had a need to see cool water, and the reflections did not disappoint.
