A time for everything

Scenes from the bike trail

Tuesday
We were woken this morning by the sound of road works on our street - they are in the process of putting in new curbs and drains, prior to resurfacing - and cutting through concrete makes quite a noise! I got up and made a cup of tea, but then took it back to bed and read for a while - Bill Bryson’s Road to Little Dribbling - a great read. We knew there was a good chance of showers today, but after checking the weather on his phone, Roger thought we would have time to go biking before it arrived. We drove up to Morrow and rode north from there, under the new I-71 bridge, past Caesar Creek Nature Preserve, through Oregonia and Corwin, making a total of 22 miles. One of the advantages of Roger being retired is we can get out during the week, when the trail is much quieter, with few unpredictable children! It was a very green ride - green grass, green leaves on the trees and fields of green corn. During the last half mile, the wind was picking up, and within minutes of being in the car, the rain arrived, and it was torrential - so hard we could hardly see the cars ahead - and there were some foolish people who didn’t even have their lights on. The rain continued for quite some time, and continues on and off as I write at about 5pm, accompanied by rumbles of thunder so we felt very fortunate to have got our ride in the dry!
