Wildlife in Mount Moriah Cemetery

Mount Moriah Cemetery is in Deadwood in the Black Hills of Dakota and it is where Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane are buried next to each other.  Nobody really knows why Calamity Jane wanted to be next to him but he probably had no say in the matter whatsoever.  We had an excellent tour of Deadwood with an exceptionally knowledgeable and characterful guide.  I spotted this creature, which I think is a Prairie Dog when we were leaving the cemetery.

Later on in the day we went to the Devil's Tower, back in Wyoming which is the site for the landing of the spaceship in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.  it is a sight of special religious significance to Native Americans and visitors are asked to be respectful when visiting.  Today was one of the days for voluntarily non climbing but we saw two people attempting the climb up the cracks in this amazing volcanic structure you can see in extras.

We venture briefly into Montana tomorrow when we go to find out about the Battle of Little Bighorn.  Looking forward to that.
