Number 1

This car is the very first production Morris Minor ever built, car number 1.

It was used as a press vehicle in the 1949 Monte Carlos Rally and as the publicity car for Morris Motors. Eventually the car was sold but Little is known of it's history again until 1961.

In 1961, the Morris Minor was the first British car to produce 1,000,000 units. The millionth car plus 349 others were sprayed lilac to mark the occasion.

In addition, a national search to locate the oldest Morris Minor, and NWL 576 was discovered in Sheffield. The owner was given one of the 349 replicas in exchange and NWL 576 was rebuilt by BMC apprentices and has been preserved for the nation ever since.
