Life through the lens...

How green is the valley.

Always beautiful, the Ouveze valley is even more so this year, as because of all the rain in May, everywhere is so very green.
This is a view from the hill side village of Rasteau overlooking the river Ouveze valley towards the Dentelles, and Mont Ventoux.
The landscape of small vineyards, and olive groves, dotted by tall cypress and fir trees.
Today I spotted a newly renovated village house with a beautiful view and swimming pool. You can just see the pool to the left of the picture.
Well one can dream!!

Our last day before we start the journey back home.
We still have tomorrow night to look forward to, as we always stay at the same hotel in Southern Burgundy, where we know we will have a meal to remember!

This lunchtime we also had a delicious menu du jour.
Smoked salmon and prawn salad, followed by Beuf Bourguignon. Mousse au Chocolate for dessert. Cafe, and rose wine for 16 Euros.
A lovely family restaurant called L’ As de Coeur. In Roaix.
Very happy friendly people.
Wish it was our local!

So now off to pack. Wine in first, and then hopefully room for the cases!
I think it is going to be a hot journey tomorrow.
Fortunately only about 189 miles. Most of it following the River Rhône through small villages. Not up the motorway, thank goodness.

Extra of the workers weeding the newly planted vines. All by hand with an old fashioned hoe. Temp. 34C !
