Captain Pugwash and Seaman Stella

Scorchio in Southsea today tempered by a cooling breeze along the seafront. Crowds of people out enjoying the weather, crammed on the beach, clustered around the boating lake and playgrounds, camped under trees in the shade or just walking the prom.

The Solent was alive with dancing sails and dotted with larger vessels with ferries and other craft weaving their way between.

Lots of ice cream, fish and chips, fast food, donuts, waffles and other seaside delights being devoured. Barbecues galore casting their meaty smoky odours across our path.

We of course, resisted such hedonistic delights, settling for a very pleasant picnic amongst the roses in the aptly named rose gardens. Smug and virtuous or killjoys I wonder?

Today’s blip could have been of the rose garden but I decided that we must have a nod to the pleasures of being at the seaside with this capture of a couple of maniacal pirates I found lurking on the pier.
