Only one walk today...............

In the whole of the thirteen and a half years that Ann has owned me; I have always had at least two walks a day. Today I have only had one walk. There are two reasons for that............................

It was mega, mega, hot this morning.
My very gorgeous Golden Retriever boyfriend, Ozzy, stayed over last night and he was still very sleepy because we'd been out for approx. 4 hours yesterday.

At about 8am we went to the field for toileting purposes a play for 10 mins.

We both spent the morning snoozing. Hot weather makes us really, really tired. Neither of us seemed bothered that we hadn't had a proper walk.

At about 12pm we went to the field for toileting purposes a play for 10 mins.

We both spent the afternoon snoozing. Ozzy, however, was being a bit silly. He insisted on lying on our very, very, sun terrace. Obviously I was much more sensible and lay on the kitchen floor where it's nice and cool. Ann was really worried about him because he felt really hot and he was panting. Every time she dragged him in, he just went out again. And she didn't want to shut the sun terrace door because she was sitting in the hanging egg chair drinking diet coke and reading trashy magazines.

Anyway at about 3.30pm the sun disappeared behind the clouds and it looked like it was going to rain. It didn't. Ann took us down to the river at St Erth so we could indulge in our favourite shared activity, which is swimming. And then we dropped Ozzy back to his house on the way home.

But the problem we now have is................................. Ozzy is coming to stay with me again next week and Ann is a bit worried about how far she should be walking him. He's my toyboy. Yay! He's four years younger than me but he seems to be having the same 'joint problems' as I am. Apparently big, pedigree doggies age quicker than smaller mongrel type dogs. Yes, I'm a mongrel – I have spaniel eyes and spaniel ears.

Oh and while I'm on the subject of pedigree dogs – there were four other dogs having a play in the field this morning and every single owner came up to Ann and said what a handsome boy Ozzy was. Grrrrrrrrrrr.......... Obviously Ozzy is very handsome (he wouldn't be my boyfriend if he wasn't) but it was like I didn't exsist?!!! Snobs!!!

Anyway, Ann's going to have a chat with Ozzy's owners to see how we can best look after him. The weather forecast for next week is 'mega hot'. The trouble is that Ozzy has a huge garden where he lives that he can play in, if he doesn't feel like going for a walk. We don't have a garden. We only have a very, very, very hot sun terrace. But we do have a field right next door to our house. So what we're going to do is................................ only have one walk a day, somewhere cool and then have a couple of short plays in the field.........................

….................Does that sound like a good plan for two ageing doggies in this hot weather????
