An ordinary life....

We have splash off!

There was a moment (actually sightly longer than a moment) at the start of the holiday where we thought Alan wasn't going to be able to get in the pool as the pool hoist didn't have the necessary attachment (a spreader bar) to hook Alan's pool chair to it, so he had no way of getting in (the chair provided by the owners of the Barn doesn't have enough support for Alan to use it.)   Oh dear, none of us were looking forward to breaking that news to him.

David (aka best dad in the world) did some googling and found we could buy the spreader bar online (£300!!!!) and ordered it.  It arrived today (David had already spoken to the Barn's owner and he was fine with us using it as it's a standard piece of kit for the hoist) so we were able to tell Alan this morning that he could go swimming this evening when he got back from today's adventures.

David and I have had a really lazy day and actually not gone anywhere.  I had a very long lie in, David went to the driving range in the morning (forgot about that) then we had a lovely lunch sitting outside.

When Alan got back they all got changed into swimming gear and into the pool with ease.  He had a ball.  The pool is way smaller than outs at home but the temperature was lovely (33 degrees) and he loved it.

I quickly chucked together a spag bol for dinner (accompanied by Jeffrey the dog who has now polished off the last of our non-chocolate biscuits.  Must remember to buy dog treats tomorrow.)  They were out the pool in time for the England world cup game and we all gathered together to eat dinner and watch it, apart from Alan who chose to watch a DVD in the kitchen.  Jordan was appalled that we were routing for England :-))

Alas it would seem football is not coming home.  Well for four years at least.
