Marine One - Honouring The Office

Great excitement here in Essex for me today. Firstly I spotted President Trump's support Osprey tiltrotor aircraft quite a distance away to the south, heading in the direction of Stansted airport. I kept an eye out for beautiful Air Force One but didn't spot it.

We watched the Boeing 747-200B arrive at the airport on TV and when the President transferred to the Marine One helicopter, I think a Sikorsky VH60N White Hawk, I rushed out into the garden hoping that we would catch a glimpse of the tiltrotor/helicoptercade on its way to London.

What an absolute thrill, the Ospreys (extras) and the aircraft carrying the President of the United States flew directly over our garden. I will never shoot an aircraft with such prestige again.

We watched the reception at Blenheim Palace. J. B. Priestley wrote of Cotswold stone that – “the truth is that it has no colour that can be described. Even when the sun is obscured and the light is cold, these walls are still faintly warm and luminous, as if they knew the trick of keeping the lost sunlight of centuries glimmering about them.”  The sun wasn't obscured and the palace positively glowed. The music was wonderful and Britain did a great job of honouring the office of the President of the United States.
