The sun is back

A lovely morning for a walk. The sun was back but there was a pleasant breeze and the grass felt dry despite yesterday's rain.

We did a familiar walk around Hewenden reservoir but in the opposite direction so I too this shot approaching the viaduct at the end of the walk. (We started by crossing it)

A lovely sparkle on the water as we passed along the other side and it doesn't seem too low. We think it may be being fed by water from the reservoir at Doe Park which we also crossed and is looking very low.

I realise you can't see much water on this shot as the trees are in full leaf but I took this to show the patch of moor that was burning just under a week ago. It is in the thumbnail, located beyond the trees at the end of the viaduct. It doesn't look much but it took our very valiant firemen all night to get it under control and stop it spreading too far.

For the last few years the fields we cross have been full of ponies. Nice to see some young foals amongst them today.

Bit of gardening this afternoon amongst popping in to follow various sports events. The highlight today I think has been the Nadal/Djokovic continued from last night. Probably should have been the final.
(How crazy - like my Calla Lilies on Wednesday - which you can understand would be flowering at the same time of year -it was the same walk on this day last year when I looked back after publishing. There were no Alpacas in sight today as there was then but it does show we are much more creatures of habit than we think.)
