Juvenile

After coffee and a bit of shopping, we wondered where to go to for fresh air and escape from the relentless heat.  On previous travels we have passed the sign to Tyland Barn many times on the way into Maidstone.  It is the head quarters of the Kent Wildlife Trust with a Visitor's Centre tucked between the busy M20 and A229 major road routes.

After a bit of struggle finding it, we discovered a quiet oasis with a small nature reserve. There was a large pond, cafe and shop, and nature walks around the site which at this time of year was bursting with wild flowers and butterflies.

This friendly little bird flitted around the trees giving me ample time to take some shots - looking him up on the internet later, I should have known he was a juvenile Robin!  The extras show a couple of fluttery things: an orange Gatekeeper butterfly and Burnet Moth with red spots.
