Hoochie Coochie Gals

Yn ôl yn y chwedegau hwyr, roedd ein hathro Bwdist rhan o'r band Bliws 'Savage Cabbage'. Nawr mae'n rhoi'r cyfle i rai ohonom ni i cymryd rhan yn canu Bliws gyda fe. Mae'r band yn cynnwys nifer o bobl sy'n newid - yn dibynnu ar bwy sy'n ar gael i ymarfer Fel arfer, rydyn ni'n cael gitâr rhythm, gitâr fas, drymiau, harmonica a chantorion. Mae'n anarferol oherwydd rydyn ni'n gallu cael pump neu chwech o gantorion, ac mae'n ddiddorol i ffeindio ffordd gorau i ddefnyddio'r yr holl leisiau. Ar hyn o bryd, rydyn ni'n dysgu 'Hoochie Coochie Gal' Mae'n fel 'Hoochie Coochie Man', ond rydyn ni wedi newid y geiriau oherwydd bod y than fwyaf o'r cantorion yn fenywaidd.

Beth yw hyn i'w wneud â Bwdhaeth? Fel arfer Bwdhaeth cael ei ystyried fel rhywbeth tawel, rhywbeth eithaf difrifol. Ond Bwdhaeth yn ystyried ein bywyd cyffredinol fel y lle i ymarfer, ac roedd e'n annogi ni i ymgysylltu â'r synhwyrau ac ymarfer yr holl celfyddydau.

Mae'n llawer o hwyl ac yn ddiddorol i ddysgu rhywbeth newydd ac yn gwthio fy hun fel canwr i ganu Bliws



Back in the late sixties, our Buddhist teacher was part of the Blues band 'Savage Cabbage'. Now he gives some of us the chance to take part in singing Blues with him. The band includes a number of people who change - depending on who is available to practice. Usually we have rhythm guitar, bass guitar, drums, harmonica and singers. It's unusual because we can have five or six singers, and it's interesting to find a best way to use all the voices. At present, we're learning 'Hoochie Coochie Gal' It's like 'Hoochie Coochie Man', but we've changed the words because most of the singers are female.

What is this to do with Buddhism? Usually Buddhism is regarded as something calm, something quite serious. But Buddhism considers our general life as a place to practice, and it encourages us to engage with the senses and practice of all the arts.

It's a lot of fun and interesting to learn something new and push myself as a singer to sing Blues.
