Wool away day ....

A day of activity and inactivity !
The lorry in to collect this years wool clip. 63 sheets this year , down from 72 last year. This is due to the hard spring which caused a lot of the ewes to lose their wool . It still costs the same to shear the ones with broken fleeces - £1.30 each this year.
Went away to bale more silage but the baler developed an oil leak in the pressure system. Lothian Tractors came out but couldn’t get it to bleed the air out the oil so had to go back to download a cure on their dealers website . Back again and eventually got started again at 8pm. Got some baled and wrapped before the thunder and lightning and rain started.
On the up side, the contractor got the winter barley straw baled and the field cleared down in bandit country before the natives had a chance to burn or burst the bales. There’s always a silver lining !
